Care Quality Commission

You may be aware that, as of April 2013, the Care Quality Commission (CQC), were given the authority to monitor, inspect and regulate services that provided health and social care. GP Practices fall within this remit and so we are measured against the CQC’s that Practice be Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. Following their introduction, CQC were asked to introduce an Ofsted style rating system to inform patients about the quality of services at their Practice. More information about CQC can be found on their website.
In order to enable the CQC to monitor our services we are required to produce a “Statement of Purpose” document which can be read here
The CQC places great emphasis on patient involvement in the way in which the practice is run.  To this end the practice has set up a “Patient Participation Group – (PPG)”. The PPG carries out an annual patient survey in which they aim to discover what you, our patients, want to see from the practice. This feedback, along with the practice response, in the form of an Action Plan can be seen here.

Policies and Procedures

The CQC bases its assessment of practice on ‘Outcomes” relative to the criteria detailed above.  However, underlying these are practice policies and procedures.  Often these relate to our internal working practices.  However, on occasion our policies relate to our patients, the services we provide and how you can access these.  Such policies will be published here for your convenience.
